First visit in Green Hills: asked and answered
The questions below are the ones that come up before a first visit, answered plainly.
Leave a little early. A visit that ends while it is still fun is the one they ask to repeat.
The drive back to Green Hills is where you find out what they actually thought. Children review an outing about twenty minutes after leaving it, never during.
The short answers
Arrive with time in hand. The first ten minutes are always coats, looking around and deciding, and rushing them costs more than they take.
Watch what they choose before suggesting anything. Children pick the machine that matches their temperament with no help at all.
The longer answers
A first visit works best with no schedule attached to it. Come, see what the child gravitates to, and let that decide the hour.
Take the photographs early. The best ones happen in the first fifteen minutes, before anybody is tired.
Still worth asking on the day

Planning your visit in Green Hills
Coming in from Green Hills with more than one child, the useful thing to know is that the room does not need to be rationed - there is more than one thing to do at the same time.
Tell a nervous child what is going to happen in the order it will happen. Surprise is the thing they mind, not the activity.
Photograph the machine as well as the child. In two years you will have forgotten what the room looked like.
Weekends bring more of Green Hills out at once. If the schedule allows a weekday, take it; the same visit is quieter and the machines wait for nobody in particular.
