Opening hours in the school holidays in East Nashville
Written for this time of year specifically.
If a visit is time critical - a party, a group, a long drive - call first: +1 (424) 387-6232 or +1 (615) 968-4925.
If you are coming from East Nashville, treat it as a cross-town outing rather than a day trip. Go with a return time in mind and the day stays easy.
Why this time of year
The first hour after opening is the calmest of the day, and the hour before closing is the second calmest.
Two shorter visits teach a child more than one long one. The second time they already know what they want to try, and that is when the good part starts.
What changes
Sunday closes earlier than the rest of the week, which is the detail most often missed when a family plans a late afternoon.
The published hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and Saturday, and 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Agree the leaving time before you walk in, out loud, to the child. Announcing it later sounds like a punishment; agreeing it first sounds like a plan.

Warn a nervous child about the noise before you walk in. Knowing what to expect is most of the difference between anxious and curious.
Let the child choose what to do first even when it is the thing you would have chosen last. The order matters less than the choosing.
Families searching from East Nashville are usually weighing one thing: whether it is worth the trip for an hour of something the children have not done before. The honest answer is that it depends on the child, and the rest of this page is about telling which.
