Rainy afternoons in Monroe: planning a school trip around it
Same attraction, different day, different set of things to sort out beforehand.
Rain turns a normal afternoon into a problem to solve. An indoor attraction inside a mall solves it without anybody getting wet between the car and the door.
From Monroe the practical question is timing rather than distance. Arriving in the first hour after opening is worth more than shaving minutes off the drive.
Why it fits the occasion
The trick with a rainy day is picking something that burns energy rather than something that keeps children still. Sitting through a film leaves the energy in the tank.
On a wet Saturday, going early beats going late. The same hour feels completely different before and after the rest of the city has the same idea.
How the day runs
Both venues sit inside shopping centres, so the walk from the parking to the attraction is under cover.
Two shorter visits teach a child more than one long one. The second time they already know what they want to try, and that is when the good part starts.

Small things that help

If one child is nervous, let them watch for the first ten minutes without being asked to join in. Almost all of them join in.

Planning your visit in Monroe
Plenty of the families in the room on a weekday morning have come from somewhere like Monroe. Nobody is local to a mall attraction; everybody has driven.
If it is the first time, do not also make it a birthday. Learning a place and celebrating in it are two different visits.
Take the phone out of your pocket before they start rather than after. The moment worth filming is usually the first one.
If Monroe is home, this is the sort of place you end up returning to rather than ticking off. That changes what a first visit is worth planning around.
